The year of 1830 on the Miraculous Medal is the year the Blessed Mother gave the design of the Miraculous Medal to Saint Catherine Labouré. During her evening meditation on Nov. 27, 1830, Sister Catherine Laboure has a vision of Mary standing in a position similar to the depiction on the medal. Mary speaks to Catherine, saying, "Have a medal struck upon this model. Those who wear it will receive great graces, especially if they wear it around their neck." On the medal, Mary is standing upon a globe, crushing the head of a serpent beneath her foot. The image of Mary light sculptured to show dynamic changes with varying viewing angles. She has a glowing halo and rays representing grace radiating out from her hands and changes depending on light sources. The phrase "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for me who have recourse to thee - 1830" surrounds Mary in glittering colors. On the background is a holographic logo of the cross and bar interlocked with a large M symbolizing the Jesus' cross of Redemption and its connection to Mary the Mother. The cross and the M change colors with viewing angle. In the background are thousands of micro-lenses to break light up in millions of colors and the outermost ring is another series of micro-lenses to frame the entire medallion. The Stations of the Cross are a 14-step Catholic devotion that commemorates Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man. The 14 devotions, or stations, focus on specific events of His last day, beginning with His condemnation. The stations are commonly used as a mini pilgrimage as the individual moves from station to station. At each station, the individual recalls and meditates on a specific event from Christ's last day. Specific prayers are recited, then the individual moves to the next station until all 14 are complete. On this medallion, the 14 stations are nano engraved around the head of Christ.  There is a 14 point star that floats made from millions of diffractive elements symbolizing the birth of Christ representing the cradle to grave of the Messiah.
